HotSpot Alert!
Humain by Jul’s debuted under a veil of mystery (with a website not featuring the restaurant’s menu for starters) which, in turn, sparked a degree of scepticism; we decided to visit anyway, nurturing very low expectations.
We were delighted to be proven wrong and surprised by the high-caliber of the operation.
Tell Me More
Housed in a neoclassical building at the lower end of Mets, Humain wins you from the off with its beautiful exterior and elegant branding. The interior is nicely curated, balancing between smart, sexy and trendy but the overall impression is welcoming: it inspires you to loosen up and enjoy.
We particularly appreciated the service: the restaurant is manned by seasoned pros. All team members were knowledgeable and swift, striking the right note between familiarity and professionalism.
The Food
The menu is small but distinct. There are just a few options in each category but every dish seems interesting: we had a hard time selecting (and only settled on the order once we agreed we’d come back for the rest). The portions are just right: neither excessive, nor minuscule; one is left satisfied but able to fit in a nightcap if need be. Price-wise, while nowhere near affordable, it is very much within reason in its league. Did we mention the powerful wine list?

The Verdict
We are calling this a total keeper (and highly recommend it for a date night out). We hear a terrace is to open, as soon as the weather permits, and we will be there to savour the atmosphere and some more of the dishes that caught our eye.
