Nyn Esti

Dining As An Art Form

A remarkable new arrival in the Athenian culinary landscape, Nyn Esti treats gastronomy as the proper art form that it is.

Tell Me More

Located at the 4th floor of the ever-trendy EMST (the National Museum of Contemporary Art), with front row views of the Acropolis of Athens and panoramic vistas of the city, this restaurant feels engineered to succeed. Chef Stamatis Misomikes proposes a highly sophisticated take on Greek cuisine, with an emphasis on sustainable practices. He delivers with impressive flair.

The operation is generously manned, with members of the stuff working together in an almost choreographed way to cater for the patrons’ needs. As guests we felt appreciated.

The Food

Nyn Esti offers a variety of options. To begin with there are 4 + 1 tasting menus: Flora (vegetable, 55€), Aqua (seafood and vegetable, 75€), Fauna (meat and vegetable, 75€) and the Biotope, which is a mix of the other three and comes in 2 variations: 7 course (90€) and 9 course (110€). There is also the option of the 3-course Urban Dinner (50€) and wine pairings to accompany each choice (18-58€).

The portions are very generous and -without exactly being affordable- the menus are good value for money. It is worth mentioning that the dishes are in no way pretentious. Visually they are prepared with great artistry but taste-wise they are original and distinguished without feeling altogether foreign: think dialled up familiarity.

We went for the Aqua menu.

Cocktails!

Apart from the wine list there is a fun selection of cocktails, inspired by famous artists & works of art. We went for “Trouble in Paradise(Cecily Brown) and “No 5 Chanel(Andy Warhol), which I fully recommend for its minimal yet striking looks!

The Verdict

We are positively enthused! There are a few kinks to be ironed out here but this is to be expected at this early stage of operations. This restaurant is bound to become talk of the town and we look forward to returning for the Fauna menu and also to experience the external grounds when the weather permits.
