FNL Awards 2024

The Best Restaurants Of The Year

It is the favourite time of the year for food lovers across Greece: time for the FNL Guide‘s annual Best Restaurant Awards. The 7th edition of the much anticipated event took place on Monday 20 May 2024 at the Athens Conservatoire and was attended by the entire who is who of the Greek culinary world.

The Real Queen of Stuff and the Royal Consort had the honour to be among the attendees of the full-on glamorous ceremony.

The Awards

First, some stats: 230 restaurants, across various categories, around the country received awards. 172 restaurants received 1 Star, with 54 of them being new entries. 48 restaurants received 2 Stars, of which 19 were new entries. 9 restaurants received 3 Stars, 2 of them new entries. Among the evening’s major highlights, Etrusco restaurant scored the ultimate distinction of 4 FNL Stars, an achievement that had so far remained elusive in the history of the institution.

Parallel to the Stars, the ceremony featured the following Special Awards: Christoforos Peskias was awarded «Mentor & Pioneer Chef», Stelios Parliaros «Mentor & Pioneer Pastry Chef», while Ilias Mamalakis received the «General Achievement» award and Dimitris & Michalis Mavrikos received the respective «Greek Tradition» award. Giorgos Papageorgiou was crowned «Restaurant Manager of the Year» and Giannis Karakassis MW «Wine Director of the Year». Scorpios was pronounced «Best Restaurant Bar» and Nammos got a special distinction as the top Greek-Global Restaurant Brand.

The List 2024 by FNL

An exciting new addition to the program, The List 2024 by FNL Restaurant Awards features the 10 absolute-must-visit restaurants for the year. Mind, these are not necessarily the best restaurants (although they are all award level and feature at least 1 FNL Star); rather they are the ones that -for various reasons- stole the limelight, caused the most intense reactions and reflect serious “nowness”.

Here go the winners:

1. Mylos by the Sea, Leros
2. Ettrusco, Corfu
3. Pharaoh, Athens (read the Royal review)
4. Delta Restaurant, Athens (read the Royal review)
5, Lygaria, Kea
6. Ex-Machina, Athens (didn’t make it for a Royal review but did get a restroom selfie distinction!)
7. Cantina, Sifnos (a Real Queen of Stuff favourite – read the Royal review)
8. Gallina, Athens
9. Vassilikos, Kallipoli, Macedonia
10. NYN ESTI, Athens (read the Royal review)

The Party

The ceremony was followed by an open air party complete with elite grade food & beverage catered by the event’s partners and sponsors. The menu was curated by Dipnosofistirion, featuring bites by awarded chefs from Tudor Hall, Nikkei and Napul’e, a Caviar bar by Kaviari Paris and desserts by Stelios Parliaros. The drinks were courtesy of Moët & Chandon, The Macallan malt whisky, Trinity Wines, Craft beers, Campari, Taf coffee and Doubia water. Needless to say everyone was happy.

Congratulations to the hosts Panos Deligiannis and Evi Fetsi.
